Short Links

Short Links

PivotCX takes your long destination link and shortens it.

Clicks on the short link are redirected from PivotCX to your destination URL. A redirect is a way to send users and search engines to a different URL from the one they originally requested. To do this, we issue either a "302 redirect" or a "301 redirect."

Redirects available in PivotCX

301 "moved permanently"

(recommended for SEO) A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect that passes full link equity (ranking power) to the redirected page. Most of the time, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.

302 "Found" or "Moved Temporarily"

302 redirects are useful when the URL of a resource is changed temporarily (such as during maintenance) and is expected to move back to the original.

We recommend using PivotCX's link shortener rather than other link shortener managers because they can trigger carrier Spam filters. Our URLs track clicks enabling us to report responses. Additionally, when you create a code, you have access to a QR code version to add to visual media as you distribute your message.
You can create short links through the PivotCX hub.

There are two ways to create short links:
  1. Personal Link: Insert the full link on your message, and our system will create a shortened personal link that lets you see if the recipient clicked it.
  2. Tracking Link: Create a tracking link through the links tab and add that link to your message. Creating a tracking link allows us to measure how many clicks happened, but we lose the ability to see who clicked.
personal link = Joe clicked
tracking link = 104 people clicked
To create a personal link, insert your long link in the message text area (individual messages or blasts sent to several recipients at once). The system will create a short link for you.

You can find the link shortener section in our hub under the "Advanced" tab on the navigation menu.
The tracking information will appear on that page once you message your list with a personal link or a tracking link.

To create a tracking link from the links view, click the "Add" button and fill out the fields as needed.
